Help us help those in need
Each year 60,000 vulnerable children arrive in refuges and emergency foster care. Often they arrive with nothing more than the clothes they are wearing.
Arriving in emergency accommodation, facing new and unfamiliar surroundings, can be traumatic for children. Many will have experienced violence and suddenly find themselves separated from parents or siblings. They are scared, alone and in need of comfort.
The Buddy Bags program gifts backpacks of basic, essential items to vulnerable children.
A Buddy Bag offers more than just material aid. These everyday items restore a sense of safety and security to children when they need it most. Having something to call their own helps them take the vital first steps to recovery.
Buddy Bags contain a toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, pillowcase, facewasher, PJs, underwear and socks, as well as a book, activity kit, photo frame and the all-important teddy bear.
For 10 years the Alannah & Madeline Foundation has worked tirelessly to provide over 80,000 Buddy Bags to children who rely on emergency accommodation.
You are helping some of the tens of thousands of children still in need.
